Meet Our Teachers

Miss Susan Haldane
Principal

First Class BA Honours Degree, Diploma in Dance Education (ISTD), Diploma in Professional Stage Dance, PVG & First Aid Certificate.

In 2006, Susan graduated from Dance for All at the Theatre School, Edinburgh, with a Diploma in Professional Stage Dance. During her training, she achieved Advanced 2 Modern, Advanced 1 Tap, Advanced 2 National, and her Student Teaching Certificate in RAD Ballet.

After graduating, she successfully auditioned for Rhythm Inc., performing as a jazz dancer at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival before securing a contract at Disneyland Paris, where she took part in daily parades and character work.

Returning to Glasgow to pursue a teaching career, Susan has now been teaching dance to children for over 16 years. She earned her Diploma in Dance Education in Modern and Tap (ISTD) under Lesley Wood at the Dance Factory and recently used her qualifications to enter the third year of a BA (Hons) Open Degree, graduating with a First.

Currently teaching at Ayrshire’s prestigious Dansarena Studios, Susan was inspired to launch Dance Capital, which has now been running for a year, providing high-quality dance lessons to children and young people in Glasgow. With a growing community of dancers, the school continues to thrive, fostering a love for dance and helping students develop their skills and confidence. “I’m so proud of how Dance Capital has grown over the past year and can’t wait to see what the future holds,” says Susan.

Miss Lucy Bastable
Musical Theatre Tutor

First Class BA Honours Degree, HND in Musical Theatre, Estill Level 2 Voice Training, ABRSM Music Theory Grades 1-5 & PVG

Lucy graduated from East 15 Acting School in London in July 2024 with a First-Class BA (Hons) in Acting. She has been singing, acting, playing instruments, and performing in musical theatre since primary school and remains just as passionate today. As a child, she was involved in choirs, orchestras, bands, and school musicals before joining Harlequin Youth Theatre as a teenager. She then trained in HND Musical Theatre at New Clan Arts in Motherwell but chose to focus on acting when she moved to London in 2021.

Alongside performing, Lucy has always had a deep passion for teaching, which began at 16 when she tutored music theory, guiding children aged 5-14 through their graded exams. Initially, this led her to study primary education at Glasgow University in 2017, but a summer working as a children’s counsellor in Canada—where she also assisted in musical theatre productions—shifted her path towards performing.

During drama school, she became the resident singing teacher at a children’s theatre school, where she co-directed productions, led classes, and provided one-to-one coaching. After graduating, she secured her first professional contract in a Christmas show in Bedfordshire. Now back in Glasgow, Lucy is thrilled to be teaching again, eager to inspire young performers just as her own teachers once inspired her. She believes there is no greater job than nurturing a child's passion for the arts!
